I worked with Bill when he was at Reston and I was at McLean both as road dogs.  We would meet at the border and swap stories and good times we had on the job.  Although he was senior to me he treated me as an equal and was never shy about sharing.  That included advice, equipment, support or just friendship.  Bill was plain spoken and sincere in everything he did.  I always respected that.  He wasn’t polished, political or in anybody’s pocket.  But if you were in a fight or needed help you could always count on him to be the first to arrive.  Like most times you were always a step ahead of me brother.  RIP.  You served well my friend.  Patty, we all grieve with you,  God bless.

Although Bill and I did not see eye to eye I admired him and  his method of doing things, He was ex navy and I was too  he once told me he was   UDT and later a Navy Seal. That alone was something to be honored for . 

 I admired you Bill  like a warrior you are .  God rest your soul Bill  I hope we meet again someday 

Bill worked for me at VDOT for several years while I was Resident Engineer for maintenance for Prince William County. I always enjoyed his wit and no nonsense comments on various matters both personal and professional. I do recall he was the hot sauce king when it came to making chili or consuming anything considered “hot” by any of the rest of us. To Bill it was not hot at all!!  He had a saying about having a groundhog for a mailman also when you passed. I always thought that was funny. His sense of humor was unique. Bill we will miss you.   Godspeed. 

Bill Hennage was a honorable man, great cop, and universally respected.  I was working in homicide when the Fatal Accident Reconstruction Team (FART Team) was formed.  It wasn't too long before the name was changed to Accident Reconstruction Unit (ARU).  We worked together on a number of accidents and Bill also assisted with the examination of vehicles involved in various crimes.  Deliberate and competent are words that come to mind when I think of Bill.   Plus, he was fun.   Patty, I know you and the family will miss Bill.  Please know that we all grieve with you.

I met him when I started working for Fairfax County Jermantown  Garage in 1986. He was always a good friend. Distance and time never mattered.   R.I.P.  “Sig 9”Roy T.

I had the pleasure and honor of working with Bill for many years.  We became the best of friends.  Bill had the respect of the men and women on our department.  He was well liked and had a great sense of humor.  Bill was a great instructor who also had "street smarts".  You could rely on him in any situation.  Bill was committed to improving and was always studying to learn more.  He was one of the finest members in the history of the Fairfax County Police Department.  Bill was an officer and a gentleman who had a positive effect on the lives of many.  He will always be loved and missed.

I fondly remember conversations with Bill when he was in the ARU unit in OSB at Pine Ridge.  He was a genuinely nice person and I know he will be missed by all.  My condolences to Patty, his children and grandchildren for their loss.  My God bless and keep Bill and may He also give comfort to those who loved and cherished him.


RIP Bill, it was a lot of fun to know and work with you. See you on the other side brother.
