Christine Garcia came to the U.S. from Tampico in Mexico in 1953 for a better life. She was an only child. She met Richard Garcia (spouse) in 1959. Soon after Richard Jr. was born in 1960, followed by Raymond a year later in 1961. They lived in Detroit Michigan for a couple of years until Richard Sr. decided to look for a better job in California. They came to California in 1964 and settled near Cadillac Avenue. That same year, Nancy was born. All was well until 1971 when that earthquake happened and they decided that apartment living was not for them anymore. So they looked for a house and settled on one in Culver City. Christine settled in as a homemaker raising 3 children. As the kids got older, she started taking classes in ceramics and cake decorating. Her favorite singer was Perry Como. She also collected elephant figurines. She also started working in the hotel industry cleaning rooms. Then she retired at age 62. From here on she was a homemaker. In 1995, she received a little Shih Tzu named Buddy. Buddy was her constant companion. He was more like a person than a dog. She did occasional traveling like camping and going to Vegas. In all, Christine had 6 children, 3 who predeceased her. She has 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren living in Houston and also grandchildren living in Tampico.
