Christopher Barnes Conaty of Los Angeles, California passed away quietly in his sleep on April 30, 2021. He leaves behind his wife, Marissa, and his son, Carter Conaty. As well as his four sisters, Caren, Lisa, Colleen, and Jennifer. He was born April 3, 1964. As a longtime resident of Los Angeles, he attended St Paul the Apostle and Loyola High School.
Christopher loved to travel. He met countless people along the way, learned to speak various languages in his travels which served him well in his career working in lighting for the entertainment business. He loved music, his job, the people he encountered, and the many places he traveled to, but most of all, he loved his family.
Not only was Christopher an uncle to all his nieces and nephews, but at times, a father figure, a big brother, and a friend. He changed their lives for the better. Uncle Chris cared for his nieces and nephews after school. He took them to his favorite burger places, the beach, Rodeo Drive, and even Italy. He imparted his personal experiences and life lessons. In particular, the importance of the song,” Stairway to Heaven” and to always add Tabasco sauce to their ketchup. He wanted to share his adventures, his stories, his languages, his life, and friends with his family. As a result, his friends became part of his beloved family. Uncle Chris was someone who knew everyone all over the world, and there wasn’t a wild unbelievable story he could tell you that was not at least mostly true.
Christopher and Marissa were married on April 22, 2006, on a beach in Malibu, California. They welcomed their son, Carter Barnes Conaty on August 31, 2006, who Chris loved and adored. As a father, Chris always strived for the best for Carter and at any given opportunity spoke of how proud he was of his son. He treasured spending time with his son and took great joy in teaching Carter how to cook and play football which are talents Carter has carried on. His highlights were watching Carter play sports and loved coaching Carter’s football team at St Paul the Apostle. In addition, Chris enjoyed his annual family trips to Palm Springs and going on their ski trips in Mammoth. Chris was cared and loved by his extended family in Miami. They will always remember his charming personality and the delicious meals he would prepare for them.
Chris will always be loved and remembered as a thoughtful husband, a loving father, a devoted son, a kind brother, a generous uncle, and a loyal friend. Above all, he made you feel like you were important, special, and was easy to talk to. He got along with everyone, saw the good in people, and because of that, he touched the lives of those he encountered. His selfless actions, considerations for others, and sense of humor are all attributes that made Chris so special which inspired others to do the same.
Christopher Barnes Conaty was laid to rest at sea in a private service surrounded by family, who adored him. Carter will follow his father's legacy by attending Loyola High School this fall and will be playing football.
