May 7, 1960 — August 26, 2014
Daniel Keith Browne — known as D.B. or Mr. Baseball to his friends — passed away peacefully at his mother's residence in Mar Vista, California on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the age of 54. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Evelyn Louise (McCale / Browne) now Dotson and Jerry Browne on May 7, 1960.
Evelyn moved to California taking Dan with her where he attended public school in Venice and graduated from Venice High School and Santa Monica Community College. in 1993 he moved to Orange County. It was the following year in 1994 that he met Maeva. Their attraction was immediate. Because they were inseparable only spending a few nights apart made them strong companions and best friends for 20 years. During their journey together, in 1998 Dan decided to take a risk and started his own company called Mr. Baseball and Co. in san Clemente, California selling sports cards and memorabilia. Then, around the year 2000, Dan took on another partner, Wayne Delowey. Mr. Baseball maintained an active growing business for 10 years. Sad to say — because of circumstances beyong his control — regretfully and with a heavy heart, Dan closed the doors to Mr Baseball and Co. in 2010 and moved back to Los Angeles to be close to his aging mother.
Dan was kind in spirit and generous in character. He had a quick wit, unique sense of humor and the gift of gab. He possessed a deep understanding and appreciation of the part beauty, humor, and kindness played in our daily lives. He made it his goal to have his work environment and gatherings with family and friends sparkle and lit up the lives of all those who knew him. Dan made sure time revolved around cruise vacations with Maeva, trips to Hawaii visiting his enormous family that he accumulated through Maeva, business ski vacation trips at Big Bear and Mammoth, golfing wherever he could, walking, playing, sleeping with our little dog Sugar and playing foos with foosball buddies, perfecting the "spray."
Dan is survived by his best friend and loyal companion Francine "Maeva" Cabanatan, Evelyn Dotson (Mother), Stuwart McCale (Uncle), Elenor McCale (Aunt), Stuwart McCale, Jr. (Cousin), Sugar (Pet Puggle) who was a constant comfort and joy to him, and numerous relatives in Chicago.
Dan will be missed by his mother, Evelyn, best friend, Maeva, and all those who knew him. He will be remembered for his unique humor and his gift of gab.
A celebration of his life will be held on September 25, 2014 at Gates, Kingsley & Gates Smith Salsbury Chapel, 4220 S Sepulveda Blvd, Culver City, California at 4:00PM.
