Greg Charles Hopkins was born on October 27, 1954, in Washington, D.C., and passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in Los Angeles, California. Greg lived a life defined by loyalty, generosity, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to the people and animals he loved.
Greg was a devoted husband to his wife of 24 years, Marlene Andersson, whose partnership and love were central to his life. He was a proud father to Gwen Willoughby and Greg Hopkins Jr., and a beloved father-in-law to Joe Willoughby and Gretchen Hosler. He was a cherished grandfather to Milo and Felix and a loving great-grandfather to Charlee. His joy in his grandchildren was evident in every story he told and every moment he spent with them.
He is also survived by his siblings, Gary, Grant, and Gail, along with their spouses, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews who will deeply miss him.
Greg’s heart extended far beyond blood. He was deeply loved by his adopted children and family, Francisco and Arley Partida and their children, Quillen, Ehren, Aiden, and Xavier, whom Greg loved as his grandchildren and who knew him simply as Grandpa. He also shared a special bond with his right-hand man and trusted companion, Hugo Hernandez; his partner, Yani; and their children, Yaya, Itzel, and Santi, who held a dear place in Greg’s life.
A true animal lover, Greg adored his loyal dog, Mac, and his beloved kitty-cat babies, who were a constant source of comfort, companionship, and joy in his everyday life.
Greg was not only known for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others, but also for his sharp wit, dry humor, and unmistakable sarcasm. He was truly a character, someone who could make you laugh with a single comment, a perfectly timed look, or an offhand remark delivered in his signature deadpan style. His humor was effortless and memorable, and even in serious moments, he had a way of bringing laughter that made life feel lighter. Greg earned the respect and admiration of a large number of colleagues and friends. He was someone people could depend on, always caring, always encouraging, and always willing to step in when needed. To many, he was not only a mentor and coworker, but also family.
Greg Charles Hopkins will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and devoted pet companion, a man whose legacy lives on through the many lives he touched. His memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
