Our condolences to Huey's family. He was a fixture in the neighborhood so his absence is felt. He always knew what was going on because he had lots of friends in our city so was our go-to person for local updates! Rest in Peace, Mayor Huey. Thank you for genuinely caring about our neighborhood.

My son was very fond of Huey....here they are  when Charlie was an infant...

I absolutely adored “Daddy Huey” ( as we affectionately called him). 
He always called me “trouble”.  Whenever I would come over to the house,  whether I headed back to the family room, or upstairs to Heidi’s room- he’d always
 ( jokingly and lovingly) announce “Christy Packard is here!  Here comes trouble!” 💕
I fondly remember lots of family dinners at the house ( especially the corn-on-the cob!) and Holiday celebrations ( including Daddy Huey’s train sets that were always set up in the back amongst the “snow.”)
Heidi and I were in Vegas when the ‘94 Northridge quake hit.  Heidi was able to call home to make sure her family was OK.  
I couldn’t get through.  Daddy Huey was the one who got in his car and drove over to check on my Mom, knowing how worried I was.  That’s just the kind of guy he was! 
Such an awesome person,  and “Dad” to me.   He will always hold a special place in my heart.  ❤️

My condolences to the entire Shaffer family.  Growing up the Shaffer house was always filled with warm smells of cookies baking, Christmas parties, homecooked meals and a loving, sarcastic comment from "Daddy Hugey."  I will always look back fondly at the memories of seeing Daddy Hugey and "Mom" in their chairs when I would come to visit my best friend, Heidi.  Hugey would love to give us a playful, hard time about the boys we dated, clothes we wore and the music we listened to.  I will always treasure the love that I received in the Shaffer home,  and I will be forever grateful for the memories.

Grandpa Huey was so great with Gemma when she was little. We always looked forward to his visits, especially when he could bring Sadie with him. 

We loved when grandpa Huey would visit! He was always so gentle and patient with Gemma when she was little. He is greatly missed.
