Jeanette Elizabeth Hodges

Jeanette Elizabeth Hodges, née Soper, 89, of Littlerock, California beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 4, 2026 in Northridge, California. Jeanette lived a life filled with love, creativity, generosity, and devotion to her family and community.

Born in Santa Monica,CA on September 22nd, 1936. and attended grammar school at Saint Monica Catholic School, followed by high school at Santa Monica High School, where she graduated in 1954. She married Otis Ralph Hodges in December of 1954.

Jeanette built a life centered around caring for others and creating meaningful memories. As a long time resident of Culver City she volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, and with Junior Programs and helped found Culver City Unified School District’s Spanish Immersion Program. She devoted herself to her children, taking them on many trips to the library, museums, and the beach in their youth. Thanks to her time with Girl Scout Troop 947, she also became an avid family camper. Jeanette was well known for her baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and crafting. Throughout her children’s childhoods, she made many of their clothes, Halloween costumes, and prom dresses.

Jeanette’s grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews brought her great joy in life. Much of her time through out the years were spent planning holiday gatherings, vacations and extra curricular activities for them to all participate in.

She is survived by her 3 sons, Ralph, Robert (Shannon), and Joseph (Kathy) Hodges, 3 daughters Katherine Mahan, Michele (Dennis) Caldwell, Rosemary (Tony) Johnston , her 11 grandchildren John IV (Tania) and Beth Mahan (Gary). Katie (Christian) Haile, Kelly (Jonathan), Patrick and Taylor (Barb) Caldwell, Sarah (Sam), Andrew (Jessica), Daniel, Kenneth (Haley) and Robert Hodges, her 8 great grandchildren Sean Sullivan, Rachel and James Haile, September and Adaline Hodges, Garhett and Grant Peterson, Joshua Mahan-Gonzalez, her brother Allen Soper, brother-in-law Frank Romleski, sisters-in-law Madeline Soper, Phyllis Romleski and Dorothy Hodges. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Ralph Hodges, parents Eveleen Soper, “Buck” & Nellie Hodges, her brothers Leonard (Jackie) and Timothy Soper, her sister Sharon Romleski.

In celebration of Jeanette’s nearly nine decades of life there will be a graveside burial service held on June 10th, 2026 at 10 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery, located at 1847 14th Street in Santa Monica, CA. Following the burial service family and friends are warmly invited to gather for a reception at 11:30 AM at Fraternal Order of the Eagles located at 13018 Washington Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA.
