What a shock to hear of John's passing, looking to reconnect after a couple of years absence! Met him several years ago at Los Angeles Christmas party, he was kind enough to invite me to his wonderful New Years celebration at his beautiful home. A real gentleman of the old school, he'll be missed.

I visited John three times before he passed away. He said he had lived a life of joy and adventure. He was a Trojan through and through. Above all, he practiced his Catholic faith. The last time I saw him, he told me Father Donie had administered the Last Rights. I asked him if that was a little premature he responded, "I'm ready to go." He passed one week later at Cedar Saini. 

Farewell for a little while my friend. I'll be where you are soon enough.

"Eternal rest grant unto John, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May his souls and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen."

John had a gentle, natural modesty, intense listening skills, and a preference for placing the spotlight upon those around him.  Through the years, I witnessed John’s gentle qualities through his devotion to his beloved mother and love of animals. Special needs dogs, horses, birds – there was no animal that John did not love. John Seitz, who I knew longer than my parents, was the most significant person in my life for more than 40 years. May he rest in peace in the arms of God, his parents, and his pets.

So thankful to have gotten to know and love Uncle Johnny when I marred into the Marhoefer Family (John’s sister Margaret’s Family)! He was such a kind-hearted, witty gentlemen, and such a blessing to all who knew and loved him!

Uncle John was an amazing man who touched every person he met. He was gracious, generous with his time, and a dutiful son to his mother. He is someone that should be the standard of what being a Catholic means, as his faith came first. He always looked for the best in people. I will miss our many talks on Trojan Football and the Triple Crown. Rest in Peace
