At UC Santa Cruz in 1982-83, I played drums for Joey Gradepoint and the Redirects, arguably the most popular party band on campus.  Joe was our frontman, and brought a unique, infectious energy and spirit of fun to every rehearsal and gig.  Although I haven't seen or spoken to Joe since the early 1980's, I have always remembered with fondness our times together.  It is almost inconceivable to me that he is gone.  Let his children know that they should be proud that their father brought a lot of happiness to a lot of people.

My condolences to Joe's family and to his Gensler family. Joe was an honest, good person who tried to assist wherever he could. He will be missed.

To all the Harris Family - I received word of Joe's passing the other day and I wanted you to know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.  Joe and I were colleagues for several years during which I was fortunate enough to have worked with, and for him.  There was no truer professional than, Joe, but he was more than that - he was a caring person, always asking about another's family and quick to talk about his own.  I know that he will be missed by many, but that is proof of the number of lives that he touched.  Rest in peace, my friend.

Although,  I have only had a handful of conversations  with you and Joe.  I have always admired your beautiful family and the incredible teamwork and grace you guys displayed every Sunday at mass.  Joe's smile and weekly greeting will be missed.  Theresa, our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

Joe was a great guy who always shared stories of his family as we were working together.  I remember the smile on his face and light in his eyes when he was talking about his family vacation in Catalina.  I am sorry to hear of his passing.

The term "professional" is over used by many. But not here. Joe was a true professional. His caring, calm demeanor and keen analytical mind served so many, so often and so well.

We all loved Joey in our family.  He was one of my brother Jim's closest friends.  Always smiling and happy to see you, he felt like one of our family - getting into the fridge and hanging around at my parents' house.  We saw a lot of Joey through the years at family parties and my husband had a lot of contact with him recently because Gensler is working on their new office space.  We will always remember the loving and happy Joey and look forward to the day when we will meet again.
