Joe was born in St. Paul Minnesota and moved to Los Angeles with his family in 1945 at the age of 15 (and could never understand why anyone would ever consider living anywhere else). For more than 30 years he worked as an aerospace engineer at TRW, enjoying a rewarding career working on satellite communications, including a year-long trip around the world. He enjoyed a long retirement allowing him to indulge his twin loves of aviation and politics. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Mary Charrell, daughter Beth and grandchildren Connor and Kate Rodriguez. He was the rock and the generous heart of his extended family, and few things brought him more joy than being able to help those he loved the most.
