Karen Lee Davies, beloved daughter and sister lost her lengthy and valiant battle with Huntington’s Disease. Karen is preceded in death by her mother Linda Gayle Davies and beloved Grandma, Ada Davies-Smith. Karen is survived by her loving sisters Tammy, Cindy and Tina, and two adoring nephews, Kevin and Jimmy.
On April 16, 1965 the world welcomed Karen Lee Davies, a big blue-eyed baby girl. Karen was adored by her big sister Tammy. Cindy and Tina soon followed and were met with great excitement. We were the four musketeers and have remained that way throughout our lives.
Karen was somewhat of a tomboy as a young girl. If the boys were doing it so was Karen. She popped wheelies on her bike, climbed trees, and had a real talent for skateboarding. It is no wonder that growing up Karen was an active member of 4-H raising steers and earning recognition for being the first girl to show a steer and one with horns at that. Karen graduated from Agoura High School and went on to receive her bachelors degree in business. Karen is a life-long Elvis fan and loved a good party or any other excuse to get together with family and friends.
Karen adored her children and was an amazing mother.
Many of you may not be aware that we almost lost Karen in 1996 when she was involved in a near-fatal car accident. It was such a blessing to have her with us for the ensuing years during which time she enriched the lives of so many others. After her recovery Karen lived each day as if it was her last, finding joy in everything she did. As her sisters, she certainly added many cherished memories for us and hopefully for you too.
Karen also fought a battle with addiction. This was a battle she was winning with 13 years sobriety. Karen was very proud of this accomplishment as are we, her sisters.
Karen has been a life-long member of the Mormon church. Since becoming ill, her church sisters and brothers have offered compassion and support. When Karen was unable to walk anymore, the help was even more profound with visits to her home and transportation to services and activities. Of special importance to Karen were Patty and Nanette who Karen considered dear friends and Sisters in the Church.
Karen was blessed with so many friends and “adopted” nieces and nephews throughout her life. They best way to describe Karen is “beautiful inside and out”. She would do anything to help a friend in need. Karen could be counted on to be a true friend, there through good times and bad. Whatever your “Karen and I” memories are, she cherished them as well.
Throughout her illness, Karen was always cheerful, looking on the bright side and never lost her love for life. She remained active in the church and outside activities until physically unable to do so.
We ask that when remembering Karen, you do so with happiness in your heart, we certainly will.
