Laura studied violin at the New England Conservatory Preparatory Division, continued her studies with Andres Cardenes at the University of Michigan, transferred to USC’s Thornton School of Music where she studied with the late Eudice Shapiro, and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance.
She began her music management career at ICM Artists, now Opus 3 Artists, leaving as Vice President to establish her own artist management company, Muse Representation in 2008. In 2011 she accepted a position at The Colburn School of Music which culminated as Director of Artistic Administration and Career Development of Colburn Artists. Throughout her career she strived to help classical performers further develop their talents, reach their potential, and achieve their performance goals.
She was an avid skier, loved to hike in the mountains, and paddle board off the southern California beaches. She spoke Latvian and was keenly interested in her Latvian ancestry. Above all else, Laura loved being a mother and was devoted to Julian.
Laura leaves her son Julian Hong, her parents, Atis and Diana Liepins, sister Sandra Busby (Greg), her nephews Robbie, Paul, and her niece Kristina; and Aunts, an Uncle and many cousins in the US and Latvia.
