Maria Polak passed away peacefully at her cherished home of 50 years, surrounded by family, love, and a lifetime of treasured memories. She shared 66 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Dr. Teodor Polak, whom she first met in her hometown of Augustów, Poland.
Maria later moved to Warsaw, where she worked as a pharmacist before embarking on a new chapter in 1960, when she and Teodor settled in California to build a life and raise their family. Though she embraced her new home, a piece of her heart always remained with family and friends in Poland.
The backbone of her family, Maria was a gentle, wise, and selfless soul who found immense joy in giving to others. She had a deep, intuitive connection with both people and nature, expressing her love through kindness and nurturing. An avid gardener, she took special pride in her collection of succulents, which flourished throughout her hillside home.
Maria is survived by her loving daughters, Ivona and Eva, and her cherished granddaughters, Alexa and Julia. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Teodor, and her brother, Joseph.
In honor of Maria’s memory, donations may be made to the USC Polish Music Center, celebrating her enduring love for her heritage and culture.
