In 2010, Tay hired me into the FAA - for that I am grateful, what followed was extraordinary.  Taye was a great leader, firm but fair and left a mark on everyone he touched.  My heart goes out to the family in this difficult time, but be assured that heaven has simply gained another angel.  

Gash Taye had a wonderful smile and was generous with his kindness and warmth .      I am so glad that we saw him a few years ago in  England and that my family got to meet him.   Rest in peace dear uncle .  Much love to my aunt Tsehay and cousins Fanaye and Dejene. 

Mr. Taye Yemeru was an exceptional man committed to serving our communities. IRCO is forever honored to have known Mr. Yemeru, and we are grateful for his dedication. We will greatly miss Mr. Yemeru, but know that his legacy in Portland and at IRCO will never be forgotten.

Taye was a man of quite dignity who displayed his professionalism in everything he did.  I’ll always carry happy memories of the time I spent with him on and off the job. We were partners together as we learned the basics of mountain climbing.  Sharing time with him and his wife enriched me and my family. Taye was a safety professional and a gifted aircraft mechanic.  He shared those gifts around the world.  Aviation will miss him but not as much as his family and friends.  Rest now my friend and know you will live forever in our memories.  

Taye was a VERY SPECIAL PERSON;  a once in a life time type of person.

He had excellent technical knowledge and experience;  and, he shared and used these qualities in very professional and  kind ways always.
His most important qualities were extreme honesty and loyalty to God, the FAA, industry, and fellow employees.

He was one of my most treasured fiends, and I will miss him dearly.

Taye and I served on the Immigration and Refugee Community Organization together. He was such a valuable and compassionate member of the community.  He mentored many members of the community and enriched the organization with his leadership. he will be missed, but he left an indelible mark on Portland that wil not be forgotten.

I met Taye at IRCO Annual Board Meeting. He was a great gentleman with always a smile on his face. He greeted us with kindness and humility just like a true African Elder. He leaves us with a legacy of service to African Community. I am forever grateful to have had the honor and pleasure to meet you Mr Taye. Your spirit will live on at IRCO.  Thank you 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

I met my brother and close friend Taye and his family during his assignment in India.  We developed a close and unforgettable relationship. It was an spontaneous meeting. We used to call each other and say Sudan is in the heart of Ethopia and Ethopia is in the heart of Sudan. 

Our families have built a strong foundation of relationship which will remain for generations to come.

I owe huge gratitude to Taye as he was the decision maker to hire me in my endeavor for employment at the FAA and further my aviation career. His professionalism and knowledge and ethics has always impressed me.  To have him as my manager was one of the greatest blessings I could ask for in my career. Thank you Taye, and my heart goes out to his family as I know he was a model Grandfather, Dad and family man for all.

I met Taye in the late summer of 2007, when he called and invited me to interview for a job with the FAA. I had never heard of Hillsboro, OR, but the next day I flew from Ca and Taye greeted me at the door. My first impression of Taye - tall, fit, and very serious! Taye hired me and changed my life. From that first day of work, sitting tall across from Taye’s desk, and to this day, I’ve always strove to not do anything that Taye would be disappointed with. Seeing Taye smile always made my day, and when I made him laugh for the first time I felt like I won the lotto. In that instance, I was applying for a promotion and Taye cautioned me not to be too disappointed if I was not successful. I said, Taye I don’t plan on losing – that gave him a great laugh and I’ll never forget the moment. I feel very proud and lucky to have known Taye, a great man and a true friend. My deepest sympathy to Taye’s family, who I know he cherished. Rest easy, Taye. -Jim

 Taye and I became colleagues many years ago during his Evergreen days and later with the FAA. He was such a pleasure to work with, always cooperative with a smile and appreciative of his government’s help. We will miss him.

It was such a pleasure working with this man.  I appreciated the way he shared his faith, love of family and country of origin.  I wish his wife and family the peace that only our God can give, and joy as they reflect on the memories and legacy he left.   Godspeed Taye!

It saddens me to hear of this loss.  Taye was a dear friend, mentor and leader.  I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have had two life opportunities to directly work with and for him in aviation.  He interviewed to hire me in 1988 for the airlines and then again in 1994 to join him on his FAA team.  I was lucky to have been in his unit his entire FAA career.  Many of my career and individual successes are owed to Taye.  Over the span of 30+ years, I came to not only consider him a friend but as my 'ah-goht', which always made him smile. Being close sometimes meant me being a pest but I think he always enjoyed the challenges (well, sometimes-lol).  And I know the day will come again when he will sternly tell me to get into my dedicated "chair" to be admonished in his usual fatherly way.  I will miss you.
