Bill Roberts died surrounded by his loving family after a heroic eight-year battle with cancer. An Air Force brat born in Libya, he was a world traveler and gourmet cook who loved fine wines, sampling new cuisines, embracing foreign cultures, and entertaining his legion of friends. He received a B.A. in cultural anthropology from CSU Dominguez Hills, a J.D. from Newport University and worked for the L.A. City Attorney for nearly 30 years. He also had a private detective agency. Active in the Democratic Party, he was named "Democrat of the Year" for his Assembly District in 2014. Bill was a smart, classy man with a giant heart who was committed to social justice. His Westchester home was a gathering place for community activists, the site of numerous political events and a haven for the less fortunate. Survivors include his wife, Linda Marsa, children, Nathan Roberts and Brittany Brandeau (Nick), his father, Col. Charles Roberts (Ret.), and his brother, Charles "Rob" Roberts, Jr. (Ely), who are devastated by the loss of this witty, kind, sweet, adventurous and generous soul. A memorial will be held later this summer.
