Albert Robichaud

C'est avec tristesse que nous vous faisons part du décès d'Albert Robichaud survenu à la suite d'une brève maladie le 3 février 2013, à l’âge de 88 ans, à l'unité des Anciens Combattants de l'hôpital régional de Campbellton.

Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse depuis plus de 60 ans, Thérèse Robichaud née Downing, une fille Ginette (feu Gary White) et un fils Réjean (Sarah Dedam).

Né à Madison, Maine, le 15 août 1924, il était le fils de feu Urbain Robichaud et de feue Mélanie Comeau. Une fille, Monique (Luc Frenette) l'a précédé dans la mort. Il a eu six petits-enfants qu'il a beaucoup aimés Mylène White (Paul Bossé) et Chantal White (Clint Bruce), Samuel Frenette (Diana Debreuil) et Dominique Frenette (Amélie Caron), Curtis et Jonathan Robichaud ainsi que quatre arrières petites-filles, Élise et Justine Bossé et les petites jumelles Daphnée et Noémie Frenette.

Issu d'une grande famille, Albert n'avait comme parents survivants que deux sœurs Délia (feu Norman Fairbairn), Dorina (Lionel Poirier) et un frère Paul (Barbara). Ses frères Alyre (Elaine), Adelard (Alphonsine), Arthur (Thelma), Alfred (Lilianne) et deux sœurs Doris (Frank Sutherland) et Sœur Thérèse (fdj) l'ont précédé dans la tombe.

Albert a vécu toute sa vie à Dalhousie où il a travaillé pour la NBIP pendant plus de 40 ans. Comme son père, il était un menuisier talentueux et il a bâti quelques maisons, dont la sienne, et même une goélette en 1950 et un trimaran avec son frère dans les années 70. Il était un habitué du Récréaplex où il adorait allé faire ses longueurs de piscine avec des amis. Homme affable, généreux et souriant, il était bien apprécié de tous.

La famille recevra les condoléances une heure avant la messe funèbre à l'Église Saint-Jean Baptiste de Dalhousie qui aura lieu le vendredi 8 février à 11 heures. Les membres de la légion de Dalhousie local # 17 et tous les membres de la Légion Royale Canadienne sont demandés de se rencontrer à l’Église vendredi matin à 10h30 pour un service légionnaire.

Au lieu de fleurs, un don à Épilepsie Canada ou à l'œuvre de bienfaisance de votre choix serait apprécié.

Les arrangements funéraires ont été confiés à la Maison Funéraire Maher de Dalhousie.

La famille tient à remercier tout le personnel de l'Unité des Anciens Combattants de Campbellton où a résidé Albert ces deux dernières années pour la bienveillance et le dévouement exceptionnels de son personnel.

It is with great sorrow that we wish to inform you of the death of Mr. Albert Robichaud on February 3, 2013, at the age 88 following a short illness, at the Veterans Unit of the Campbellton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Beloved husband and devoted father, Albert leaves behind his wife of more than sixty years, Thérèse (nee Downing), his daughter Ginette (Gary White, deceased.) and his son Réjean (Sarah Dedam). Predeceased by his daughter Monique (Luc Frenette), his parents (Urbain and Mélanie), brothers Alyre (Elaine), Adelard (Alphonsine), Arthur (Thelma), Alfred (Lilianne) and sisters Doris (Frank Sutherland) and Sister Thérèse (Filles de Jésus). Albert is survived by two sisters Delia (Normand Fairbairn from Sarnia, Ont.), and Dorina (Lionel Poirier) and a brother Paul (Barbara).

Albert was a loving grandfather to his six grandchildren Mylène (Paul Bossé) and Chantal White (Clint Bruce), Samuel (Diana Dubreuil) and Dominique Frenette (Amélie Caron) and Curtis and Jonathan Robichaud, and his four great granddaughters Élise and Justine Bossé and the twins Daphnée and Noémie Frenette. Albert lived his entire life in Dalhousie where he worked for NBIP for over forty years. Like his father before him, he was a talented carpenter who built a few houses, including his own, and even a schooner in the 1950s and a trimaran with his brother in the 1970s. He was a regular at the Récréaplex where he enjoyed swimming with his buddies. A generous, affable, and cheerful man, Albert was well-loved by his community and will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by all those who knew him.

Friends are invited to join the family to celebrate his life at the funeral mass to take place at 11:00 am, on Friday, February 8th at the St-Jean Baptiste Church in Dalhousie. The family will receive friends and family one hour before the service to remember Albert with those who have had the pleasure of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the epilepsy foundation in Albert's name or any charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Funeral arrangements have been left to the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Dalhousie.

As the family lays Albert to rest, it wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Veterans Unit at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, where Albert had been living for the past two years, for their kindness, their steadfast dedication, and the excellent care they provided.
