Born in Dalhousie, NB on January 20th, 1942, son of the late Albert (Bert) Harquail and Clara Henry Harquail.
Alvin worked for Noranda Mining Corp for 40 years as a supervisor until his retirement. In 1998 Alvin had great respect and admiration for the men who worked for him and alongside him. Alvin always had a passion for the outdoors. If you were looking for him on the weekend or holidays just head back to Island Lake, Meadow Lake or Upsalquitch Lake to find him hunting and fishing with this brother Donald, his boys or his granddaughters. Alvin loved his favorite hockey team, The Montreal Canadians, he never missed a game. He was overjoyed when he was able to go to the home of The Habs and watch them play in 2018.
He is survived by his two sons Alvin Jr. and Allan (Jill). His granddaughters Madison (Jade), Avery and Kelsey. Alvin leaves behind his sisters Carol Flanagan and Gwen Corrigan (Phillip) and his brother Keith Harquail (Heather Ann), along with many nieces and nephews who he took as his own children and his beloved dog Barney. Besides his parents, Alvin was predeceased by his sisters Doris O'Neil (Charlie), Betty Smith (Clinton), his brother and best friend Donald Harquail (Claire) and his brother Jackie Martin of Listuguj, QC.
A private family burial will take place at a later date.
In his memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association, Restigouche SPCA or to the Sick Kids Hospital Foundation Toronto, Ontario.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.
