Born in Bathurst on April 16, 1930 daughter of the late Wilbrod and Corrine (Degrace) Melanson.
She worked for over 15 years at the Dalhousie Regional High School in the cafeteria as a cook for Beaver Foods. She also worked for the Dalhousie Provincial Jail, as a cook, until she retired at the age of 65. She then enjoyed her retirement at her trailer in Petit Rocher at the beach, laughing and enjoying the company of her sisters and brother and their families.
She is survived by her son Barry Brown (Rita) of Dalhousie, her daughter Darlene O’Rourke (Kirk) of Eel River Crossing and Boyd Brown (Cindy) of Salisbury, NB. Three sisters Jeannine Melanson of Petit Rocher, Doris Vienneau (Ronaldo) of Bathurst and Blanche Guitard (Reginald) of Petit Rocher Nord and one brother Clovis Melanson of Bathurst. Her Grandchildren, whom she adored, Shannon Mercer (David) of Brantford, ON, Shawn O’Rourke(Sarah) of Hartland, NB, Jordan Brown of Moncton NB and Cameron Brown of Salisbury, NB. She was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren that always brightened her smile, Ashton and Rhea Mercer and Audrey and Evelyn O’Rourke, as well as many special nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Dora, Claudette, and Gilberte.
Graveside memorial will be held at a later date.
