A native of Dallas, she was the born March 17, 1927, daughter of the late Jacob Lemuel Terres and Myrtle Lineberger Terres.
Mrs. Blalock was a lifelong, active and devoted member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church; where she served as a Sunday school teacher, member of the church council, member of the women’s circle and book club. She was a graduate of Dallas High School and was employed by Beaunit Mills in Lowell and William C. Friday Junior High School in Dallas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Goforth Blalock; sister, Mary Lee Terres; brother, Jake Terres; and twin brother, Flay Terres.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan B. Horton and husband, Walter A. Horton of Cedar Grove, NC; sister, Ella Mae Kinley of Shelby; brother, Edwin Douglas Terres and wife, Sara Finger Terres of Dallas; sister-in-law, Betty Baker Terres of Gastonia.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Sherrill Curtis officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday, May 30, 2011 at Dallas Funeral Home.
