Otis James Holder

Otis was born on April 7, 1934, in Shooting Creek, NC to the late Claude Charles Holder and the late Maudie Burrell Holder. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son, Gregory Scott Holder; sisters, Naomi Hovis, Wanda Farley; and brother, Olin Holder.

On Father’s Day, Otis peacefully left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ. He was a calm and laid-back man whose quiet strength touched everyone who knew him. He faced his battles with heart disease and cancer with courage and grace, rarely speaking of his struggles. A devoted father and loving Pop, he was a strong role model and the heart of his family. He was always the first to lend a helping hand and never hesitated to support those in need. His favorite place to be was Upper Tuskeegee, and he attended Tuskeegee Baptist Church.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering love.

Otis is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jane Holder; son, James Holder and wife, Kim; daughter, Gina Holder Helms and husband, Jerry; grandchildren: Anderson Holder and wife, Minnie; Wade Holder and wife, Megan; Emily Blake Hooks and husband, Blake; Nick Blake and wife, Samm; great-grandchildren: Aubrey Holder, Nora Holder, Ada Holder, Olin Holder, James Hooks, Carter Jane Hooks, Hazel Blake, and Sage Blake; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his special friends that called Otis “Cuz”, Glenda and Eldon.
