It is with heavy heart that I found this while searching for BTC HOLMES. Wish now I had searched years earlier. We were shipmates aboard USS PRAIRIE (AD-15). He was my Division CPO, at the same time he was my mentor. He was a true Chief Petty Officer. I was a BT2 at the time. The day he retired I carried his sea bag off the ship and down the pier to his car. We saluted each other and said goodbye.

Knowing he is gone I shall miss him for the rest of my life. Save me a rack in the Chiefs' Quarters, Shipmate.

To the Holmes family, My husband and I really enjoyed time with Rick at the Country Kitchen. He will be missed by all. We had a little ritual going on that when he came in he always throwed me three kisses and he would always raise his arm real high on the last one. Our prayers and sympathy, David and Alice Powell

Tracey, and the entire Holmes family, What a blessing it has been for me to have known Mr. Holmes. His upbeat personality and positive attitude always brought a smile to my face when I saw him. This world is a better place because of him and his memory will be long remembered. My prayers are with each of you.

Warm Summer Sun

Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.
