Sophia Agnes Williams, 59, passed away suddenly on August 19, 2014. She was born October 4, 1954 in Wagner, SD to the late Francis and Hazel (Simmons) Ashes. Sophia was a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota and served her country for eight years in the US Army.
Sophia is survived by her fiancé, Virgil Swancey of Dallas, NC; son, Anthony Ashes and wife, Pam of Wagner, SD; step-daughter, Carol Johnson and husband, Harry of Dallas; two granddaughters, Antonia and Jada; one great-granddaughter, Brianna; three step-granddaughters; three brothers and six sisters; numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, sister, two nieces and one nephew.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am-12:00pm at Dallas Funeral Home in Dallas on Friday, August 22. Sophia will be taken back home to SD for burial.
