

Ada M. Weatherread, the matriarch of our family, passed away peacefully in Dallas on February 9, 2016 at the age of 91, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 24, 1924 in Commerce, Texas the daughter of Horace Everett Davis and Exie Mae Porter. Ada married Arthur B. Weatherread on April 12, 1943 in Oklahoma and they celebrated 64 years together before his passing.
Ada is survived by her daughter Judy Davis and son-in-law Mike; grandchildren Heather Davis Nogle and husband Harold III, Ashley Davis, Lindsay Weatherread, Brandon Weatherread and wife April, and Adam Weatherread; great grandchildren Harold "Little Harry" Bailey Nogle IV and Natalie Jean Weatherread; daughter-in-law Fredna Weatherread; and nephew Denny Griffin and wife Julie. Ada was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, son Larry, brother Charles Davis, and sister Blanche Griffin.
Ada and Art were founding members of Lake Highlands United Methodist Church. During World War II they traveled the U.S. and lived in New York and San Francisco. Most recently, Ada was a member of the White Rock United Methodist Church where she was active in the Harmony Sunday School Class. Ada was an excellent cook, loved to host family holidays and doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ada enjoyed the company of her many friends and family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Feb. 11 from 6-8PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be on Friday, Feb. 12 at 10AM, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Ada's honor to the White Rock United Methodist Church Harmony Sunday School Class.
