Adolphus Lee Alexander Sr. was born on December 7,1947 in Ore City, Upshur County, Texas to Hollins Alexander and Mae Pearl Hill-Alexander, both preceded him in death. Adolphus accepted Christ at an early age under the pastoral care of his grandfather Rabbi J.J.O. Alexander.
Adolphus family moved from Ore City to Cleveland, Mississippi and finally settled in Dallas, TX. He graduated high school from L.G. Pinkston High School in 1966. After graduating high school, he dedicated the next years of his life to serving his country as a part of the U.S. Marine Corp from 1967 – 1970. During his duty as a Marine, he served in Vietnam for the 3rd Marine Division as a Supply Truck Driver and was part of the band. As a Marine he lived his entire life by their motto, “Semper Fidelis” translated into Always Faithful. He was a man that was faithful to God, his country, his family, his friends, and anyone that crossed his path and needed a helping hand.
Adolphus met his beautiful bride Arlene at the Greyhound bus station in Washington DC while being stationed in Quantico, Virginia in 1969. Shortly thereafter, Adolphus and Arlene were united in holy matrimony on September 5, 1970, in Boonville, Missouri. From this union two amazing children were born (Francesca Renee Alexander-Hayes and Adolphus Lee Alexander, II).
Throughout his life he faithfully served his church family, friends, and community while attending Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, Community Bible Church, Agape Bible Church, and then finally serving at The “Exciting” Singing Hills Baptist Church in many capacities as a deacon, male chorus choir member, Sunday School leader, usher, etc.
Adolphus worked at Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratoires for 28 years as a warehouseman. After retiring, he couldn't stay still so decided to go back to work and worked at Dolco Packaging and Dieco for several years. Even though he worked for numerous companies his true passion was taking care of family and friends doing landscaping with his father “Hollins” and many family members to enhance and enrich various homes and businesses throughout the D/FW metroplex and beyond. Adolphus other passions included fishing with family and friends. You could always find him at a lake nearby from Mountain Creek, Ray Hubbard, White Rock, and many more. Additionally, we all know him as a grill master always willing to grill for family, friends, his church, and neighbors. Lastly, while spending time with family and friends you could always count on him to give you a family history lesson or playing a game of dominoes and spades.
On Monday, March 4, 2024, Adolphus left his earthly body and went to be with his Heavenly Father Jesus Christ. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and supportive wife Arlene; a daughter Francesca Renee Hayes (Euothophus deceased); a son Adolphus, II (Tiffany); Three grandsons Adolphus, III (Trey), Bryce, and Christian; A sister Naomi Turner; A brother Hollins Ray Alexander. A special nephew Justin Lee Alexander (Bonita). A host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
