Aladin grew up in San Benito, Texas, and attended High School and Electronics School. His older sister Hilda introduced him to Elisa Leal and they were married on December 16, 1945.
Aladin L. Rios and wife, Elisa L. Rios were married 72 years at the time of her death.
Aladin went to California and joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. (known as the CC Camps).
Approximately one year later he joined the National Guard.
After Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japan, he joined the Navy during World War II and was assigned to the Aircraft Carrier “Natoma Bay” in the South Pacific. After surviving numerous battles in the South Pacific, he received an Honorable Discharge in November, 1945.
Aladin had several professions during his career. He worked at Tong-Sol Electronics. He was in banking. He was the owner of Aladin’s Television Sales and Service and he taught Electronics at night school. He retired from the University of Texas at Dallas where he worked as an Electronics Technician.
He loved boating, camping, fishing, hunting, and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elisa, his son Roger, his parents Roger and Allie, brothers Roger, John, Gilbert, and sisters ”Big Hilda,” “Little Hilda,” Otile, Emma and Elma.
He is survived by daughters Elvia Schwejda, Elena Velde (John), Enid Hogan (Gene); grandchildren, Michelle Manderscheid (Jeff), Michael Ingram, Angela Carraway (Robert), Matthew Hogan, Zondra Schwejda, Zane Schwejda (Kelsea); great-grandchildren, Brian Manderscheid (Jeneill), Hope Manderscheid, Breanna Ingram, Kyle Manderscheid, Myca McGee, Ally Carraway, Alexis Gibson, Abby Carraway, Avry Carraway, Zyla Stoval, Gabriel Schwejda, and Isabella Schwejda; great-great-grandchildren, Daniel Manderscheid and Caspian Gibson; his brother Frank Rios (America), Martin Garza (Mary), Conrad Garza, Mary Mandate (Howard), and Pete Garza (Bertha) and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Aladin L. Rios will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
