Albert Allen was born December 12, 1932 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Elbert and Tiny Mae Standback Allen. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and became a member of The Piney Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He attended the Piney and White Oak Community Schools and later graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Mt. Pleasant. After graduating, he enlisted in the Military Branch of the Army.
After an Honorable Discharge, he moved to Dallas, Texas where he met and married Theresa Barber. He joined and was active in the Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as President of Usher Board #4. He was a member of the Brotherhood and Sunday School. He continued his life as a Christian at Greater Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church serving as a Deacon and President of the Usher Board. He attended Sunday School and was active in the Brotherhood there.
His demonstration of Servant Leadership was appreciated and recognized for several years, resulting in multiple awards.
The strong work ethic of Albert Allen resulted in over 40 years of employment at Neiman Marcus as a Commercial Driver who received awards for perfect attendance. After retirement, he performed meaningful work as a crossing guard at an elementary school in the local community. During his employment, he saved the life of one of the students by protecting her when distracted drivers entered the school zone. His employment was interrupted only by the diagnosis of a medical condition.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Elbert and Tiny Mae; brothers: Isaac and Kelly; sisters: Ida, Vera, Thressia and Lillian.
To mourn his passing, he leaves a wife, Theresa Allen, daughters Gwenda Johnson, Margaret Branch(Billy) and Dr. Pamela Allen, brothers: Willie Joe(Margaret), Leroy(Sandra), and Margie(Alberta); sisters, Emma Brown and Jerry Jr.; three great grandsons, eight great granddaughters; one great-great granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
