Albert Booth Nicholson was born on October 14, 1929 in Dallas, Texas. He passed from this life into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on August 21, 2020 at the age of 90 in Athens, Texas. Al had a long, fun filled life. He retired after 37 years of employment with Dallas Power & Light, and made his retirement home on Cedar Creek Lake, where he enjoyed fishing, boating, and parasailing (into his 70s). Through all of his crazy comments and practical jokes, he truly loved people. Al was a Master Mason for 68 years with the Oak Cliff AF & AM Masonic Lodge #705. He was also a Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Oak Cliff Chapter #303. Additionally, he was a member of the Pleasant Mound United Methodist Church and Mabank United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean (Vansickle) Nicholson, his parents, Leonard Clyde and Madaline Lou (Edwards) Nicholson; two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by son, Alan Nicholson and Sandra of Garland, TX; daughter Judy Beach and Steve of Canyon Lake, TX; grandsons Blu Nicholson and Jennifer of Athens, TX. and Colin Robertson and Jennifer of Cedar Park, TX; granddaughter Summer Rocha of Mesquite, TX; 8 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends. Al used to sing that he was an old chunk of coal, but he was going to be a diamond someday. He was always our diamond.
