Fred Perez was a life long resident of Dallas and started his life in the old Mexican-American neighborhood known as El Barrio or Little Mexico that is today part of the Uptown area. The son of Mexican immigrants, Fred, like many members of his extended family and friends, joined the military and served in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton in the service of the greatest nation the world has ever known. While working at the old St.Paul hospital on Bryan St. in 1958, Fred met the love of his life Betty Sloan, a student nurse. Fred and Betty were wed at the Cathedral on Ross Ave. (then called Sacred Heart Cathedral) and they started a family.
Fred was the right hand man for Wm.Howard Wisner M.D.for over 30 years and served him as surgical assistant, orthopedic assistant, x-ray tech, and also english/spanish translator and co-pilot on several medical teaching and goodwill missions to Mexico.
The pride and joy of his life were his children and grandchildren.
