Alice R. (Lonergan) Scanlon, 87, of Dallas (formerly of El Paso and Horseshoe Bay, Texas and Brockton, Massachusetts), passed away on May 30, 2016. She was born on October 27, 1928 to Michael and Esther Lonergan in Brockton. She is survived by her children Mary Scanlon, Michael Scanlon, and John (Sharon) Scanlon, and grandchildren John Rory and Grace Scanlon. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband John, five infant children, granddaughter Caroline, and sisters Mary and Claire. Alice was Phi Beta Kappa and a proud graduate of Bridgewater State Teachers College (B.A. and M. Ed.) and taught elementary school before leaving her formal career to raise her children. She was a lifelong educator as a teacher, a mother and a grandmother. She was also a ready volunteer in many civic and charitable organizations throughout her life, including especially the parishes to which she belonged over the years. A Memorial Mass will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at noon.
