Allean Jones Proctor

On Monday January 20, 2025, Mrs. Allean Jones Proctor received a call from her father. He wanted her to move from where she had lived for 98 years. Her family sat quietly as she answered His call. Allean peacefully transitioned to a new home that her Heavenly Father had prepared.

Ms. Allean Jones Proctor was born November 8, 1926, to the parentage of Jessie and Thurman Jones of Beckville, Texas. Allean was the second of two daughters born to this parentage. Later an adopted son joined the family.

Allean is preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Jessie, sister Allie Christine Jones Leftridge and adopted brother Gary Morgan.

At an early age, her family relocated to Dallas, Texas. They untied with Macedonia Baptist Church (now Good Street Baptist Church) under the leadership of the Reverend C.W.A. Clark, Sr. Ms. Proctor was regularly active in various ministries of the church. She remained faithful and supported the church until she was unable to attend.

Allean attended school in the Dallas Independent School District. After graduating from the historic Booker T. Washington High School, she began her college education at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. It was at Wiley College when she knew she wanted to be a teacher.

Allean’s professional career spanned over 30 years. After teaching five years in Palm Dale County California, she moved back to Dallas and worked at Julius C. Fraizer and John Neely Bryant Elementary Schools where she was affectionately known as “Mother Proctor,” by her students and colleagues. She was an exemplary educator who set high standards for her students.

She was a woman of great grace, beauty, and sharp wit. Her legacy of love, compassion and generosity will be remembered by all who were touched by her life.

She is survived by her adopted family, Alfred and Lela Herron, their children Algernon Herron (Angela), Latosha Herron Bruff (Garfield). Her adopted grandchildren Ellis Herron, Ethan Herron, Evan Herron, Brooklyn Bruff and Braxton Bruff as well as a host of loving relatives and friends.
