Allie Louisa “Lou” Smith, age 89, of Rockwall, TX peacefully passed away Sunday, January 17th. She was born in Montrose, West Virginia in 1931. Lou moved to Pleasant Grove, TX in 1946 with her family. There she met Clifford “Jack” Smith and married him in 1949. They lived in Dallas, TX before moving to Rockwall, Tx in 1998 and were married 67 years. Lou worked as a keypunch operator at Traders & General Insurance Company and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. She stayed at home with her children when they were young. In 1973 Lou went to work for Dallas Independent School District for three years as a library clerk at Rylie Middle School and then 15 years as a principal’s clerk at Florence Middle School. Lou was a member of Rylie Christian Church. Lou had a servant’s heart. She helped take care of many family members over the years, the last being her husband, Jack. She also enjoyed sending cards, especially birthday cards, to family and friends. Later in life when it became hard for her to write, she remembered and talked about each and every one when their birthday came around. Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Smith; her father, Arthur Wilmoth; her mother, Allie Ferguson Wilmoth; her sister, Eunice “Fay” Burke and husband, Bob; her sister, Roberta “Bobby” Burke and husband Hal. Lou is survived by her daughters, Susan Lambe and husband, Joe and Barbara Kovar and husband, Ken; grandchildren, Bradley Thompson and wife, Osma, Brittany Thompson, James Lambe, Carol Lightfoot and Clayton Kovar; great grandchildren, Joseph and Louisa Lightfoot; her sister, Ethel Newland and husband, Melvin; and her brother, Scott Wilmoth and wife, Beverly; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
