

Alvin David Rosenzweig, 89, of Dallas, passed away on Tuesday with Cecile Golman Rosenzweig, his devoted wife of 67 years, by his side. Born in Dallas on January 31, 1926 to the late Sol and Rose Rosenzweig, Al graduated from Forest Avenue High School in 1942 and proceeded to serve in the 78th Infantry "Lightning" Division of the United States Army. He was an accomplished homebuilder and a lifelong entrepreneur who was passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of others. Al was a proud World War II veteran, having been awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service in the Battle of the Bulge. To this end, he was an active member of the United Service Organizations (USO) and the Jewish War Veterans. He found tremendous happiness in his wide-reaching friendships and participation in veterans groups. However, Al's greatest joy was family – his “dividends” – and he took tremendous pride in their accomplishments and involvements. In addition to his beloved wife Cecile, Al is survived by his sons Howard Rosenzweig and Sammy Rosenzweig (Karen); grandchildren Shawn (Lisa), Courtney (Will), Derek and Evan; great-grandchildren Reid, Stella, Drew and Emerson; cherished siblings Dolores and Donald Golman; and many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2015 in the Northwest Highway Chapel of Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home with the graveside service to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.The honor of pallbearer has been bestowed upon Alan Golman, Rick Golman, Larry Golman, Victor Corby, Martin Golman, Evan Rosenzweig, Shawn Rosenzweig and Derek Rosenzweig and honorary pallbearers, Walt Williams, Will Lundquist, Jared Bleiler, Seth Bleiler, Arye Corby and Aiden Bleiler. Immediately following the graveside service, the family will be receiving guests for a 6:00 minyan at The Vendome located at 3505 Turtle Creek Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75219.
