Surviving family includes her beloved uncle and cycling partner Robert Crane, as well as her aunt Annette Dunton, cousins Linda Middleton (husband Mark and children), Leslie Locklear, Larry Locklear, and their father Jack Locklear. Amanda had an enormous family of friends, not only in Dallas but also across the world. Her two closest friends - Andrea Whitehead and Erik Yang - were her guardian angels. Her two Westies - Casper and Caroline - were her loving companions. Her Moldovan "sister" Veronica Boaghi
and her parents were her second family. She attended Arts Magnet High School and was the AFS exchange student from Highland Park High School to Bari, Italy, for a year. She earned a B.A. in political science at SMU and J.D. in international law from The American University. Her studies and internships took her most often to Italy, but also throughout Western Europe, China, Argentina, Belize, Africa, Iceland, and Eastern Europe. She was assigned by the Peace Corps to Moldova. Among her adventures was a climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. Amanda was a Dallas magazine writer, as well as an online contributor to Mercy Corps’ GlobalEnvision.org. She was a guest speaker at the opening of China’s western provinces in Zi’an in 2000.
