

Americo de Luna peacefully passed away at the young age of 98, 7 months, and 28 days on August 28, 2023 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on December 31, 1924, in Bustamante, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Cornelio de Luna and Concepcion Ramos.
Americo was raised in Mexico and attended several universities but found his calling in sales. He married Rosita Perales in 1956 and the couple had five children. With the help of his wife and family Americo was able to start two business, DeLuna Sales and later Rosa Products, where he worked for more than sixty years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the piano and singing to our mother. He also enjoyed the harmonica. Americo enjoyed listening to his records from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. When he wasn’t singing, he enjoyed watching sports, boxing, and baseball. He enjoyed the old westerns with John Wayne, mystery crime with Perry Mason and of course the Andy Griffin Show. On Sundays he attended mass at Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe with mom.
His family will always remember him as a man who deeply loved his wife and children. Americo loved his wife’s delicious cooking, especially her tamales, menudo, and buñuelos. He was an extremely hard worker who never stopped until the job was done. He was very respectable and trustworthy. His family could always find him either at work or home.
Americo is survived by four daughters, Rosa, Perla, Flora, and America. A son Americo Javier, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
A visitation for Americo will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Gonzalez Funeral Home on 3050 N. Stemmons Fwy, Dallas, Texas 75247. A rosary will occur from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
A mass of Christian burial will occur Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Rd. Dallas, Texas 75238. An interment will occur Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 1:00-1:30 p.m. at Calvary Hill Cemetery 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220.
A small meal will be provided by St. Patrick Catholic Church following the burial at the Parish Center on Walnut Hill Lane behind the main church. All are welcome.
