Anastasia Mary Tempel Herb of Cedar Hill, TX, went to Heaven peacefully on November 14, 2019 surrounded by love ones. She was 95 and lived a long, fulfilling life. She was born February 3, 1924, in Muenster, Texas, to parents John and Elizabeth Tempel. Anastasia was the youngest of five siblings, outliving them all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Thomas Herb, who died on January 8, 1981. She resided in Dallas, TX most of her life.

She was a talented cake decorator who worked for Aston’s English Bakery, Neiman Marcus, and The Cakery before retiring at age 77. But in her early years, she picked cotton during the summer in her hometown of Muenster, Texas. Sometimes, she was a salesclerk in various places, including The May Company in Los Angeles, CA.

Some of Anastasia’s hobbies included traveling, working crossword puzzles, and watching TV, especially “Judge Judy,” “Wheel of Fortune,” and “Family Feud.” Her favorite things to do included gardening, making cookies for her grandchildren (chocolate chip, sugar and oatmeal), and making Cranberry Nut Bread and Banana Nut Bread to give as Christmas gifts.

Anastasia is survived by her seven children: daughter Terry Watson, and her husband Robert; son Thomas Herb; daughter Mary Jane Piña, and her husband Gary; daughter Cynthia Herb; son Paul Herb, and his wife Beverly; daughter Jeanne Maceda, and her husband Frank; and daughter Patricia Burcalow and her husband Gary. Anastasia had 18 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

In memory of my loving mother, who always made it clear there is a God. Without her love and example I would not be the man I am today. Her strong prayer life and spiritual convictions were a wonderful guide for her family to follow. I'll miss you until I see you again in Heaven.

I hope that I have cared for your daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren the way that you would have wished. I have loved Patricia since I first saw her and I’m sorry for the times that I let you down. I loved you like my own mother though we were never very close. You were a woman of God though we may have had different beliefs. I believe He is hugging you today and the angels are rejoicing. We will all miss you.
