Andrew was born in Dallas, Texas on March 11,1964, the youngest of 5 children to Andrew Oliver Hoolan and Martha Davila Hoolan. He attended St. Bernard’s of Clairvaux for elementary school, attended Bishop Lynch High School for three years and graduated from Skyline High School, Class of 1982. He attended Southwest Texas State University (Texas State) where he studied Marketing and was a proud Veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
The majority of Andrew’s professional career was spent in the Video Game Industry where he held positions in marketing, development and publicity at various Gaming Companies, with his favorite position being with Midway Home Entertainment as Public Relations Manager. He loved developing, promoting and playing the games at Midway where, on occasion, he would be immortalized in one of the games, most notably as Wild Stubby Corley in the video game Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2. The connections and friendships he made in the game industry were very important to him.
Andrew is survived by his beloved wife Renee Beddow Hoolan, his stepsons Bailey W. Sanders, Jr., Matthew W. Sanders and his wife Alicia Rauanheimo, and Jeremiah W. Sanders, PhD, his granddaughter Braelynn D. Burkley, along with his 4 siblings Thomas J. Hoolan (Ginger), Jody McNally (Brent), Maureen Taylor (Robbie), Kit Sawyer (Steve) and a host of nephews and nieces that fondly called him “Mr. Wonderful”.
Andrew loved cars; especially convertibles, and enjoyed spending time working on cars with his friends at Monty Rorie’s house. He also had a lifelong fascination with planes, especially watching take offs and landings from the tarmac. The life of any gathering, Andrew’s recollections of past escapades were sure to mesmerize a crowd. While Andrew’s inner circle will miss his “Saturday Story” group texts and his jazzy taste in evening jackets, we will most miss his big laugh, big heart and big hugs.
Services for Andrew will be held on Tuesday, July 1st at Grove Hill Cemetery and Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial donations or contributions be made to The SPCA of Texas or The Michael J. Fox Foundation. The family would like to thank Dr. Arun Nagaraj and the staff at Texas Neurology for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
