The world grew a little quieter on July 20, 2026, when it lost one of its most genuinely warm and generous souls. There was a warmth that entered a room before Ann Day did, a kind of gentle brightness that made everyone feel as though they had been expected, welcomed, and deeply seen. Ann passed away peacefully at home in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by the love she had so freely given to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born on November 18, 1943, in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, to Teddy and Jinny Holland, Ann grew up in Newcastle surrounded by family and friends and carried that sense of belonging with her all the days of her life. Ann loved England and her beloved Newcastle United Football Club; she was a Geordie through and through.
Ann devoted her earliest years to the sacred work of home and family, pouring herself wholeheartedly into raising her daughter, Jessica. When Jessica graduated high school, Ann stepped into a new chapter with characteristic enthusiasm, beginning a rewarding career as a Fit Specialist at Macy's — a role that suited her perfectly, as she had a natural gift for making people feel seen, cared for, and genuinely at ease. Her social life was as rich and colorful as she was. Ann treasured her Best British Club, Book Club, Bunco nights, and Bridge gatherings, and she was a gifted entertainer who opened her home and her heart without hesitation. Her table was always set for one more, her home a place where laughter lingered long after the evening ended. Her garden was a reflection of who she was — tended with patience, blooming with beauty. She never met a stranger, and those who crossed her path even briefly often found themselves with a lifelong friend. She would give you the shirt off her back and never once think twice about it. A faithful member of the Methodist tradition, Ann's Christian faith anchored her life and shaped her extraordinary capacity for love.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Jessica George; son-in-law Dru George; and her cherished grandchildren, Liam and Gable George, who knew firsthand what it meant to be adored. She is also survived by her brother, Harry Holland and his wife Carol. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Teddy and Sarah “Ginny” Holland, and her brothers, Steven and Brian Holland.
To everyone she loved, Ann always signed off the same way — I love you more. This time, we'll have to let her win that one.
We would like to thank The Grove on Forest Lane and Charlin Health Services for caring for Ann.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 6, at 1:00 p.m. Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel 7405 West Northwest Highway Dallas, TX 75225
