Ann Folz passed away in Dallas, Texas on November 19, 2024, at age 94. A third generation Dallasite, she was born on January 5, 1930, the daughter of Henry S. and Dorothy (Marcus) Jacobus and younger sister of Henry S. Jacobus Jr. After graduating as valedictorian from the Woodrow Wilson High School class of 1946, she attended Mills College and transferred to Southern Methodist University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in comparative literature in 1950. In 1949, she married A. Lorch Folz. Throughout Ann’s adult life, she demonstrated a deep sense of civic responsibility. She was an active member of the National Council of Jewish Women and the League of Women Voters, and she volunteered at the Oak Lawn Branch Library and many other local organizations. Her interest in public policy led her to enroll in a Masters in Civic Leadership program at the University of Dallas. Ann also enjoyed traveling the world, collecting art, and supporting art and education in Dallas. Ann is predeceased by her husband, A. Lorch Folz. She is survived by her sons Alan Lorch Folz Jr. and Robert H. Folz, her granddaughters Karen and Denise Folz (David Bellangue), and her niece, Sarah Jacobus.
