We lost one of God’s greatest gifts on December 16, 2025: Ann Susan Jaffer. Born on September 10, 1942, Susan grew up in Miami Beach where she exceled in her studies. While earning tremendous grades at Miami Beach High, she was also a cheerleader and crowned Prom Queen in 1960 due to her charming nature and stunning beauty.
From Miami, Susan traveled to Gainesville to continue her education at the University of Florida. There, she was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority and majored in Speech Therapy under the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She eventually graduated in 1964 and worked as a Speech Therapist in the Greater Atlanta School District before meeting her partner for life and husband: Maury Jaffer.
Maury and Susan met in Atlanta in 1964, and on December 22, 1965, Maury was lucky enough to tie the knot. Through ups and downs, laughs and screams, and a whole lot of love, the two stayed married for 59 years — five days short of reaching 60 years.
Susan was a thoughtful painter, meticulous baker, learned chef, unofficial food critic, and insightful book reporter throughout her 83 years of life. In addition to her love of traveling and chocolate, she cherished spending quality time with her friends and family where she could conversate about philosophical musings and pressing current events.
Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Theresa “Terry” Sandler and father, Harold Schwartz. She was survived by her husband, Maury Jaffer; daughter, Tracy Jaffer Blair; brother, Richard Schwartz; granddaughter, Casey Morgan Gumm; grandson and baby boy, Griffin Jaffer Gumm; and son-in-law, Christopher Michael Blair.
