

Ethel joined the United States Navy in October 1944. She met the love of her life, Edward Ole “Bud” Henderson, while they were serving in the Navy. They married on July 27, 1945, at Patuxent Base Chapel in Washington D.C. After WWII ended, the couple moved to Dallas, Texas, where they raised five girls, and were blessed with multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Ethel was also the godmother of too many children to count.
Ethel was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, member of the church Ladies’ Society, the Knights of Columbus, and the Order of the Alhambra’s. She served on every committee at church and worked tirelessly to serve the community. She was a Girl Scout leader, room mother, and coach for the Special Olympics Bowling team. She also volunteered her time at Scottish Rite and driving for Meals on Wheels. In acknowledgement of her services Ethel was awarded Mother of the Year in 1996 by the St. Pius X Ladies’ Society.
Services will be Catholic rosary and mass at St. Pius X Church, 3030 Gus Thomasson Rd, Dallas, Texas, 75228 on September 21 at 10:30 AM.
Reception will follow at Sparkman Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Rd, Dallas, Texas 75218.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Notre Dame School of Dallas Notre Dame School of Dallas.
