Anne Frances Richards Watson

Anne Frances Richards was born June 30, 1918 to parents Lora Sallie and Henry Tompkins Richards in Hamlin, TX and died on September 29, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by her son, Richard Charles Watson and wife, Suvithia of Frisco, Texas and daughter, Joy Lynn Watson Bowles and husband, Rick of Dripping Springs, Texas. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Melissa Frances Cunningham and husband Gary and great-granddaughters, Genevieve Mae, Anne Winsome, and Rebecca Faith Cunningham and step-grandchildren Theresa Bowels of Louisville, KY, Chase Bowels of Attleboro, MA and Zack Bowels of Tempe, AZ and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Most of her younger years were spent in Bonham, Texas where she graduated from Bonham High School and earned straight A's in post-graduate courses in Shorthand and Business English. After graduation, she worked for four years in the Engineering Department of Southwest Pump Company in Bonham. She was married to Charles Erb Watson on November 10, 1951 for 24 years before his death in 1975. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas throughout 46 years. Anne served as Legal Secretary in the Dallas Department of Labor, Solicitor's Office prior to a promotion to Legal Assistant in 1975. She was one of the first ten U.S. Legal Assistants appointed in the U.S. Dept. of Labor's Legal offices during 1975. This had resulted in a "bridge position" for legal secretaries to move to a higher position in the government. She retired in 1988 after 20 years as a Paralegal. Previous positions held in other federal services included Eighth Service Command and the Veterans Administration. The family will receive friends, Friday, from 6-8 PM, at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held, 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 2, 2010, Grove Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you give a donation in Anne's name to the charity of your choice.
