Anne was born in San Antonio, TX on January 7, 1935. She went to school at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, TX. She attended North Texas State College (now University of North Texas) where she earned a master’s degree in Education, before becoming an elementary school teacher.
She left teaching to become a loving mother to her five children, who were required to play at least one musical instrument. She enjoyed seeing them grow through enrollment in sports, dance, art classes, Girl and Boy Scouts, and various other extra-curricular activities. She encouraged her children to engage in diverse childhood friendships and exposed them to a variety of languages, cultures, and foods, which established lifelong interests that they continue to enjoy, today.
Some of her favorite loves and pastimes include animals, art museums, gardening, volunteering at the Hall of State during the State Fair of Texas, and the Neiman Marcus Fortnight. Anne loved sharing her fondness for music and musicals by attending events with her granddaughters. She and Bob were long-time season ticket holders at the Dallas Theater Center and enjoyed seeing their friends play in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
She married Robert (“Bob”) Michael Wohlfeld on December 20, 1960 in Dallas, TX at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years. After active duty, he worked at his uncle’s woodworking and cabinetry shop, Coerver Industries, before taking a job as an engineer for Bell Helicopter. After 13 years at Bell, he left to open his own machine shop, which he ran for 30 years.
Anne is survived by her husband, Robert (“Bob”), Michael (Kalen) Wohlfeld, Maria Wohlfeld, Theresa (Paul Scoggan) Wohlfeld, Christopher (Marla) Wohlfeld, and Robert (Loren) Wohlfeld. She was “Mimi” to her eight grandchildren: Greta Wohlfeld, Veronica Scoggan, Vivian Scoggan, Fiona Scoggan, Charlie Wohlfeld, Henry Wohlfeld, Oscar Wohlfeld, and Ozzie Wohlfeld.
The family of Anne wishes to extend our sincere thanks to everyone at Guardian Angels Group Home, for their loving care of her, in her final days and years.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.calvaryhilldallas.com for the Wohlfeld family.
