Born September 27, 1937, Annette grew up in Augusta, Georgia, where she met and married Dennis P. Foster. Annette and Dennis’s marriage was built on love, faith, respect, and a whole lot of laughter. Together, they raised three daughters and enjoyed a loving marriage. The family moved from Cherry Point, North Carolina, to Atlanta, Georgia; then Naperville, Illinois, to Charlotte, North Carolina before finally settling in Dallas, Texas in 1980. Annette made many friends along the way and worked diligently at being the best wife and mother she could be. She loved attending church, singing, dancing, traveling with Dennis and friends, and she excelled at creating a beautiful living space for family. Dennis died from cancer in 1992, but Annette remained the vibrant heart of a growing family; they all consulted her on decorating ideas; her grandchildren called it “Nanasizing”. Annette’s laugh was contagious and easily provoked, and many family conversations were interrupted by stretches of giggles and guffaws. She loved to cook, and every time we make her special Thanksgiving dressing which fuses her mother and mother-in-law’s recipes, we will remember how much she always tried to bind us together.
Annette believed, sometimes mistakenly, that her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren could do no wrong. She was always proud of their accomplishments and a great source of support. Her faith and her sense of humor carried them all through their triumphs and tragedies.
Annette was a loyal and loving friend. She enjoyed being part of a community, whether it was Richardson First Baptist Church, golf and bridge groups, or among many friends she made while living at The Tradition Independent Living, where she was the life of the party, always wearing an outfit befitting the occasion. She truly felt that our ability to accessorize is the only thing separating us from apes.
Annette is preceded in death by her parents Oliver Wright and Eloise Doolittle and her husband Dennis P. Foster.
She is survived by her brother and his wife, Harold and Lois Doolittle; sister Victoria Doolittle Zeigler; beloved cousin Carl and his wife Ann Boatwright; daughter Endia and son-in-law Eric Rockett, granddaughter Casey Spies and her husband Justin Spies, and their children Mackenzie, Foster, and Parker Spies; grandson Eric Rockett, Jr. and his children Aiden and Brayden Rockett; daughter Camille Foster, granddaughter Amber Jenkins, and great granddaughter Mika Jenkins; and daughter Denise Foster.
