

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Ansel Harrison Johnson Jr, a cherished soul who left us on May 9, 2026, at the age of 82, after a short illness. He was born o June 25, 1943, in Dallas, TX, a city that shaped his character and where he spent his fulfilling life.
Ansel was the beloved son of Ancell and Dorothy(Allen) Johnson, who preceded him in death, as did his loving wife, Kristine, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage until her passing. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them, a testament to unwavering companionship and shared dreams.
A proud alumnus of Adamson High School, Ansel carried forward the values instilled in him during his formative years into a successful career. He dedicated 25 years to FFE Refrigerated, where he retired as a valued and respected colleague.
Beyond his professional life, Ansel was a man of simple joys and profound dedication to his family. He was an avid fan of the race track, often found at the betting counters with an infectious smile, placing bets on the ponies and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. His passion for the races was a testament of his zest for life and the simple pleasures it offers.
Ansel's legacy is carried forward by his devoted children: Allen, Barbara (Melissa), Timothy (Amy), and recently found Cheryl Cano. His sister, Linda Johnson, along with his treasured grandchildren, Brendan, Dylan, Alex, Kassie, Seth and Elle and one great-grandchild, will continue to honor his memory and pass down stories of his life and love.
He is also survived by the memories of many family members who preceded him in death, including several siblings and his beloved granddaughter Kristine. Their spirits are undoubtedly joined now, watching over those they left behind with love and pride.
Family will be taking final visiting at Laurel Land Funeral Home on Sunday May 17, 2026 from 10am to 2pm.
A graveside service to celebrate Ansel's remarkable life will be held on Monday May 18, 2026 at 12:00pm at Laurel Land Memorial Park, located 6300 S R L Thornton Frwy, Dallas, Texas 75232.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Renaissance Rehab and Nursing Home and Bristol Hospice for their exceptional care during Ansel's final days.
Ansel was more than just a loving father and grandfather; he was a beacon of strength and kindness whose presence will be sorely missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends. May he rest in peace, forever remembered in our hearts.
