

Artillia Washington was the first of nine children, born February 27, 1930, to the parentage of Frank Williams and Ester Traylor-Williams in Dallas, Texas. She received her education in the Dallas Independent School District of Dallas. Upon completion of her schooling, she was employed by the Dallas Independent School District as a Nutritionist (Head Cook). Artillia found the love of her life and united in holy matrimony to Joseph Washington, Sr., for 54 years. Two sons were born of this union. Artillia’s proudest accomplishment was accepting Jesus Christ to be her Lord and Savior at an early age and was faithfully committed to several ministries. After relocating to Palo Alto, California, she joined The St. John Baptist Church under the Leadership of Reverend James Branch. She enjoyed being a servant of God and was an active member of the Sunday School, Women Aglow ministry, Wednesday Night Bible Study Class and was the Esther Circle Leader of the Women Mission Department. Sister Artillia, joined Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, August 10, 2003 (14 years ago) under the Leadership of the esteemed Dr. Karry D. Wesley. She loved working on God’s Program as a member of the Mother’s Board, Adult Women #1 Church School, Senior Saints and the Pastor’s Noon-Day Bible Class, all of which she passionately committed her time, talent and treasures. During our family gatherings, she lifted her voice in resounding prayers that made us feel like we were close to Heaven. On August 10, 2017, at 3:40 AM, Artillia, affectionately known as “Big T,” went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ester Williams; three siblings: Brother Edward Franklin Williams, Brother Walter Williams, and Vergie Ree Williams-Craven of Dallas; and one granddaughter, Catrina Washington of Sacramento, California. Those who are left to Cherish “Big T” memories: two sons: Joseph “Bubba” Washington, Jr., of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Michael Eugene Washington, Sr., of San Jose,California; seven grandchildren: Aja Tishana Washington of Cupertio, California, Herman Washington of Dallas, Texas, Michael Eugene Washington, Jr., of Portland, Oregon, Ronald Morgan of San Jose, California, Silas Washington of Las Vegas, Nevada, Star Artillia Washington of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Latecia Whitfield of Stockton, California; ten beautiful and loving great-grandchildren; two sisters: Roberta Hill of McKinney, Texas, and Mabel Gent of Dallas, Texas; two brothers: Frank Williams, Jr., of DeSoto, Texas, and Willie B. William of Duncanville, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special close friend, Charles Etta-Bell of Dallas, neighbors and Two Beloved Families of Faith.
