

Born August 24, 1933, in Dallas, Texas, passed away April 29th from Leukemia in Dallas, Texas. Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents, A. D. and Lillie Gearner. He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 57 years, Joan, his daughter Debbie Thompson and her husband Larry; his son Mark, sister Sandra Justice and her husband Brady, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grand-children, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Aubrey was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and the University of Texas in Austin, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He served as a navigator in the U. S. Air Force separating with the rank of Captain. Aubrey’s career in the transportation and warehouse business included President of Texas Cartage Terminal & Warehouse, Chairman of Texas Cartage Services Inc. in Dallas, President of the Distribution & LTL Carriers Association, Regional Distribution Carriers Conference and Executive Vice President of the Texas Warehouse Association. He was active in many industry related associations and held leadership positions in the Southwest Warehouse Association, Texas Motor Transportation Association, Regional Distribution Carriers Conference, Texas Association for Competitive Transportation and many others. His community involvement included President of the Founders Lions Club of Dallas, Chairman of Family Gateway, Inc. and Chairman of Juliette Fowler Homes Inc. His real passion in life was serving his Lord and His church. He was a member of Northway Christian Church for 54 years where he served on numerous committees and as Chairman of the Board. He also served as a Deacon, Elder and Elder Emeritus. Beyond his local church, he served as Moderator for the North Texas Area of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). A viewing will be held Wednesday 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. The family will have a private graveside service. A memorial service will be held at Northway Christian Church, 7200 E. Northwest Hwy. Thursday, May 3rd at 1:00 PM with a reception at the church following the service.
