Loyd was born to Aubrey H. and Elta White in Elmhurst, Illinois. As a young man he enjoyed working for the parks department throughout the year helping maintain the city and state parks. After graduating from Elmhurst College, Loyd went to work for Shell Oil, where he met his wife Irene.
Loyd and Irene moved to the Houston area so he could continue to grow his career with Shell and so they could continue to grow their family. He was an avid reader, woodworker, and he volunteered for the South Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department for over 15 years, achieving the rank of Captain.
Loyd is survived by his children, Brian Douglas, Michael Jeffrey, and Vanessa Anne. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Isaac, Lydia, Jared, Noah, and Emily.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home.
