Austin Yeager Martin passed away at his home in Dallas, Texas on October 12, 2026. Austin was born on November 8, 1991 to parents Alan and June Martin. He attended The Covenant School, where he participated in several sports but excelled as a defensive end and running back on the football team. He went on to play fullback at Fort Lewis College. Being close to the mountains was a joy for Austin and he spent many days snow skiing and hiking in the San Juan Mountains. Austin spent a year working in the Rainforest of Peru as a volunteer before transferring to Texas Tech University, where he ultimately graduated with a Master of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Physiology. While as a student, Austin worked part time as a personal trainer, discovering a passion which would grow into a career and his life’s work.
Upon graduation, Austin worked as a cardiac rehabilitation specialist at Baylor University Medical Center before starting Austin Martin Fitness in 2019. He loved to market his business with comedy sketches that he posted to social media. He built a reputation as a trainer who could lift up and transform the lives of clients with chronic illnesses.
Austin was a man of rich cultural curiosity. He collected stringed instruments from around the world, and was able to play them by ear. He also played the piano. A lover of language, he was fluent in Spanish, conversational in French and German, and knew words and phrases in dozens of languages.
Austin loved animals and was always gentle and affectionate with them. From an early age he could always be found with either a cat in his arms or on the floor petting the dog. He had a pet corn snake named Dirk. Dirk was frequently found in places where he wasn’t supposed to be; for example inside Austin’s backpack at school. Austin’s furry children were his corgi’s Lola and Diego. They made a happy trio.
Austin lived a life of enthusiasm and passion. He had an infectious laugh, and could light up a room like no other. Despite a difficult final chapter to his life, he is remembered fondly by his friends and family.
He is survived by his parents Alan and June Martin, his brother Will Martin (Kimberly Lu and Charlotte Martin), his brother Clark Martin, his grandparents Bill and Ann Martin, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Dallas Jerry Yeager and Dorothy Nadine Melson Yeager.
