Our beloved Ava Lynn Liddell Seale Powell, 91, went peacefully to be in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 01/14/19 after an extended illness and in the presence of her loving family and friends.
Ava was born in Adams Station, Mississippi, to Arthur Thompson and Annie Vernon Liddell and as older sister to her beloved brother Dickson Ross Liddell. Ava graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College and married E.B. Seale, Jr. of Dallas, TX. E.B. and Ava’s first daughter, Rebecca Lynn, was born in Dallas, TX. They were then transferred to Hobbs, New Mexico, where they lived for almost 20 years and had daughters Ava Carol and Maribeth. Ava worked at New Mexico Junior College and she and E.B. were faithful members at First Baptist Church where they developed many life long friendships before moving to Richardson, TX, in 1971.
E.B. and Ava joined Richardson Heights Baptist Church where they both served faithfully as Sunday school teachers until E.B.’s death in 1996. Ava worked for many years as assistant registrar at Richland College until her retirement. Ava enjoyed spending time with her three daughters, son-in-law Joel Lawrence and grandchildren Rachel Cereceres, Adam Carruthers and spouse Randa, David Carruthers, Jennifer Flanders and spouse Andrew, Lisa Garland and spouse Casey, Jordan Lawrence and spouse Megan, and Jonathan Lawrence. She had great joy being a great-grandmother of nine great-grandchildren: Bella, Becca, Ava, Maggie, Gabby, Madison, Carson, Cohen and Graham. Ava is also survived by sister-in-law Marlene Love Liddell and her children, Hal Liddell and spouse Carolyn, Roy Liddell and spouse Anna and Lisa Morrison and their children and grandchildren. Sister- in-law Anita Beth Prescott and nephews David Prescott, Ken Prescott and spouse Penna.
Ava married Buford Nolen Powell in 2001 and enjoyed many years full of family, travel and service until Buford’s death in 2014. Ava loved her step- daughter, Janice Reed, and grandchildren Gena and Jason Minnix, Ethan and Laura Reed, Bethany Reed and seven great-grandchildren.
Ava was a faithful member of The Heights for 40+ years and leaves a beautiful legacy of faith, family and service. We know she is right now hearing our Lord say “well done, good and faithful servant”! The family desires that any memorials be made on her behalf to AnGel Ministries:
