Azzie Lee Daniels

She accepted Christ at an early age while attending Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Lisbon.

Azzie graduated from Homer Colored High School in 1955, proudly serving as Miss Homecoming Queen. She later won several beauty contests, earning the distinguished title of Miss Creole. Regal in her presence and graceful in her walk, she carried herself with integrity, kindness, and humility. Though she was a woman of quiet strength, her actions spoke louder than words. She enjoyed driving fast vehicles, dancing, singing, and expressing herself through fashion.

After graduation, she relocated to Dallas, Texas, where she worked in various roles at the historic Adolphus Hotel. She later became a beloved nanny and housekeeper, caring for many children until her retirement. She was a faithful member of Seven-Star Baptist Church, a devoted Bible reader, and a spiritual example to all who knew her. Her walk with God never wavered.

Azzie cared for and nurtured many people in her community and extended family. She never turned away anyone in need. She offered guidance, care, and a safe place to those seeking comfort. She helped feed the neighborhood and was a steady source of support to many.

On January 19, 1956, Azzie joined in holy matrimony with George Choice Daniels of Waskom, Texas. Their union endured faithfully until the Lord called him home in December 2003. Eight children were born to this union, Brenda, George, Charles, Beverly, Larry, Sandra, Yolanda and Reginald.

Her greatest joy was raising her children, grandson, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Azzie loved and adored them all. She reminded her family that family is all we have and encouraged unity no matter the circumstance. She will be truly missed.

On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Azzie L. Daniels entered into her eternal home of Glory. She was welcomed by her husband, George Choice Daniels; her son, Charles L. Daniels; her father, Philmore Reynolds, Sr.; her mother, Ida L. Reynolds; her brothers, Philmore Reynolds, Jr. and Willie Reynolds; her grandson, Brandon D. Reece; several grandchildren; great grandchildren and a host of beloved relatives and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Brenda J. Reece (Charles), George E. Daniels, Beverly R. Hall (Dexter), Larry D. Daniels, Sandra Daniels-Cullens, Yolanda K. Roberts (Reginald), Reginald E. Daniels (Tera) and Deshon Seals & Barbara Nava; her brother, Charles J. Reynolds; her bonus-daughter, Sandra J. Adams; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; her bonus-daughter Cathy Daniels; her bonus-granddaughter, Crystal Brown & Leon Roberson; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
